What I measure, and what I do not.
Draft, November 2026
I want to know how this site is used so I can improve it. I do that without cookies and without anyone becoming visible as a person. Below is exactly what I measure.
Who is responsible
Aether AI, Mats Ponte. You can reach me at mats@aetherai.nl.
What I measure without consent
No cookies are placed and nothing is stored on your device to recognise you. I do measure:
- which pages are visited
- which domain the visitor comes from (the referrer) and any utm parameters in the link
- clicks on links and buttons
- how far the page is scrolled
- how long a page stays open
- how fast the page loads
Your IP address
Your IP address is never stored. It is used only at the moment of the visit to derive three things: an anonymous code that changes every day (so I cannot tell who was here yesterday), the country, and the name of the network or organisation. The address is then discarded.
What I only record with your consent
If you give consent on this site, I record how you move through it (session replay, using rrweb), so I can see what is unclear. Input fields are masked: what you type is not recorded. Without your consent this does not happen, and declining has no effect on how you use the site.
How long I keep data
Individual events are kept for 13 months. After that only daily totals remain, not linked to any visit. Recordings are kept for 90 days.
Where the data lives
On my own server in Germany, at Hetzner. No third parties are involved: no external analytics service and no advertising network.
Your rights
You can ask which data I hold about you, and ask me to delete it. Send an email to mats@aetherai.nl.
Contact form and email
The contact form on this site stores nothing itself: it opens your own mail app with the text filled in, and you send it yourself. An email you send me, I read only to answer your question.
